Unnao rape survivor case: Sengar sentenced 10 yrs

Lucknow: The Delhi’s Tis Hazari Court sentenced expelled Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar and six others to 10 years imprisonment for the death of Unnao rape survivor’s father. Sengar is already serving life imprisonment for raping the minor.

While sentencing them, District Judge Dharmesh Sharma said, “There can be no denying that rule of law was broken. Sengar was a public functionary and had to maintain the rule of law. The way the crime has been committed, it does not call for leniency.”

Also the guilt have been spalled a fine of Rs 10 lakh each. In all four accused have been acquitted for lack of evidence against them. The CBI had pleaded for maximum punishment in this case and the special CBI court had pronounced life imprisonment to Sengar in the Unnao rape case. This was second FIR in which judgement was pronounced.

The judgement on the case for death of two people in car accident shall come next. The survivor’s father had died in custody on April 9, 2018.
