How smartphone is helping Singapore fight coronavirus

Countries across the world are trying to cut the chain for coronavirus. Until the chain breaks the infection spread might not stop. and to achieve this every nation is making attempt in their own ways. At some places cops are trying to chase the infection chain and at some place technology is doing this work. In Singapore the smartphone is working handy on this.

The way coronavirus is spreading fast has made it clear that it is not a physical fight. And without the use of technology we might not be able to defeat coronavirus. That is a reason why in Europe doctors and engineers are working together with the government to make app to ensure it tells when and where the coronavirus patient met and with whom. The work of police will be done by the app.

The smartphone with the help of tracker will keep an eye on one and all. Though this technique is not new. Google uses this technology to tell heavy and light traffic.

When in the last week of January corona virus patients started coming up in Singapore the government gave the job of finding possible patients to detectives. The 18 cases came up. But on February 4, the Singapore government said the virus had spread in the local community.

By March 16 Singapore reported 243 cases and the government had initiated key steps. It was ordered that all those coming from any country have to remain in quarantine for 14 days and also one week history of positive case was being screened.

Where all the case went, whom did they meet, and for this CCTV footages were being checked by the police department. Despite all efforts of the government the cases went up. Watching the number of cases go up the government decided to take help of the smartphones.

A Singapore based company has made an app which works with the help of Bluetooth. If someone has this app and has kept Bluetooth on it can get code from other phone in the nearby vicinity. Thus it can be ascertained whether many people have gathered in a place or not.

Singapore is using this app and other countries who have reported cases are thinking to use it. This app has the benefit that the user data is safe and none other than the user can watch it. The drawback is that unless people want to install and use it keeping the Bluetooth on it won’t work. Thus if you go to a crowded place and do not switch on Bluetooth it wont work.

As I have said earlier too not just the government but people too are fighting with coronavirus in Singapore. While the entire world is speaking about data and security of personal data/information people in Singapore have supported government.

The government had data of positive cases and when someone came near a positive case a message came that you are close to a positive case. Thus people are safe and are protecting themselves.
