Yogi takes oath for a second term

Yogi Adityanath Friday took oath as a chief minister of Uttar Pradesh for the second consecutive term with Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak as the Deputy Chief ministers.

PM Narendra Modi was present in the ceremony.Suresh Khanna, the nine time MLA from Shajahanpur and several other MLAs also took oath as ministers during the ceremony at the Ekana Stadium. Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary, Jaivir Singh, Dharam Pal Singh, Nand Gopal Gupta ‘Nandi’ took oath as Ministers in the Uttar Pradesh government.

PM Narendra Modi, union home minister Amit Shah, defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Haryana CM ML Khattar, Himachal Pradesh CM Jairam Thakur, were also present for the ceremony. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel attend the ceremony.

Political circles was abuzz since morning as MLAs getting a ministers berth got calls to meet Yogi at his residence. The BJP retained power in Uttar Pradesh by winning 255 out of 403 constituencies, securing a 41.29% vote share.

Though number of seats were less than 2017 when BJP and allies got over 300 seats. But the party could form the new government as it has much over the needed figure of 202.

Yogi Adityanath and 47 ministers had taken oath on March 19, 2017 in the BJP’s preceding government. According to the constitutional provisions, there can be a total of 60 ministers.

Those who took oath included Suresh Kumar Khanna, Surya Pratap Shahi, Swatantra Dev Singh, Baby Rani Maurya, Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary, Anil Rajbhar, Jitin Prasada, Rakesh Sachan, Arvind Kumar Sharma, Yogendra Upadhyaya, Ashish Patel and Sanjay Nishad.
