Yogi sidelines ministers, in fight with coronavirus

News Desk

Every state is fighting a battle against coronavirus and so are the chief ministers engaged in this fight. Even the prime minister has given free hand to his ministers. Though many ministers are staying at home while fulfilling their responsibilities.

Uttar Pradesh but has a different strategy. The chief minister has made a team 11 and the special mention about this team is that it does not include ministers. All in this team are bureaucrats. The chief minister holds review meeting with this team every day and none of his ministers are included in these meetings.

Both the deputy chief ministers too were not called for these meetings till April 11. Though the CM had called ministers who were present in Lucknow at his residence just before the proposed date to end lockdown and had made them heads of different committees.

No one knows when the prime minister was taking opinion of chief ministers across the country over lockdown extension, whether some of these minister had given any advise to the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. None also know if the CM had asked his ministers anything over the lockdown.

The chief minister himself was seen instructing officials to make COVID wards for the patients and also to make supply of rice, wheat, flour, potato, tomato, bread onion and other essential items regular for the common people. Even directions to the officials at district level were given by the CM himself.

The CM himself ensured that transfer of money in to bank account of the labours, is done under his direct supervision. The CM alone is seen in the fight with coronavirus in the state and the entire cabinet is missing. Now the question is where are all the Yogi government ministers?

Are state ministers working from home as the union ministers are doing? Why are they option other measures to remain in media highlights. Some are doing iron upon clothes while some are doing work in their kitchen and getting photographs clicked. When this question was raised there were several answers to it.

Some say that Yogi wants to emerge as a leader in the fight against coronavirus so that he gets no challenge. This is the reason why none from his cabinet is seen. Some have a different view that if ministers were part of the team 11 meetings they would have got the attention too hence were kept aside. But why is the chief minister struggling at every front in this fight? The question has no answers from any of the officials or advisors.
