Taking a dig upon BJP government over recent LPG price hike, former president of Congress Rahul Gandhi has shared a picture of Smriti Irani and some other BJP leaders when they were staging protest against the increase in LPG prices during the UPA government. Rahul demanded the price hike should be rolled back.
Rahul, while sharing the picture Rahul wrote, I agree to these BJP members as they are opposing Rs 150 price rise for the LPG. The recent hike in LPG prices has been to the tune of Rs 144.5 per cylinder. The government oil marketing companies issued circular for this.

Companies said the price of LPG cylinder which was Rs 714 will now be Rs 858.50. The central government has almost doubled the subsidy on LPG cylinder which will give relaxation to those availing subsidy.
Sixth rise since September 2019
Since September 2019 this was sixth rise in price for cooking gas by the oil marketing companies. The last rise was done in January 2020. The price of LPG cylinders are decided on first day of every month and this decision is based upon international prices and the change in dollar price. The government gives subsidy till 12 cylinders in a year and after that the customers have to purchase cylinder at market price only.
