Why Pakistani doctors irked with their government?

Coronavirus has troubled almost every country whether rich or poor. Shortage of masks and PPE kits is troubling even the rich countries who have had best healthcare models that was followed by other countries.

What to say about countries not so rich or poor countries. Earlier Indian doctors had appealed to the government to make basic facilities available to fight coronavirus and now Pakistani doctors are irked with their government.

Pakistani doctors became angry with the government after a picture was tweeted by president Dr Arif. The picture was from a meeting in which he was wearing a mask. Though this was a common picture but it is due to this picture that criticism is being done.

In fact the president is seen wearing a N-95 mask which is recommended for healthcare providers. The healthcare workers who are fighting with COVID-19 are in tension with this picture.

The Pakistan Medical Association has in this matter said that one the one hand politicians are seen wearing N-95 masks and on the other hand healthcare workers are struggling to find one for themselves.

IN Pakistan also doctor are not getting basic facilities. IN one of the cities in Pakistan 25 doctors tested positive. reports are coming that doctors and policemen had struggle here. And those doctors protesting against shortage of PPE kits were arrested too.

When the issue of the picture became big the Alvi said that this mask was provided to him during a visit to China. He also mentioned that the strings of the mask was broken and he was using it after getting the strings attached once again. After this incident he is using a normal masks but the doctors were not satisfied with his answer.

Ever since last month when COVID-19 knocked in India the news of shortage of N-95 masks has made news every day. Not only the situation is out of though but also the fact that shortage of masks will be there could not be thought about.

Pakistan had six months before decided to abolish the organization Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) and this was a surprise for 2 lakh doctors in the country. Due to this 15000 medical graduates also could not get a certificate. Also with the rule to get registration renewed every five year many doctors had to stop practice. Now about 30000 doctors are awaiting renewal of their registration.

Doctors are working despite lack of resources and their small number they are working. Doctors are working despite shortage of PPE kits and healthcare workers are protesting across the country and boycotting work also.
