Lucknow: If MLAs and MPs and even government employees working in different organisations can give a portion of their salary/perk to the government for coronavirus treatment wont this be a practice by the bureaucrats?
The question has been raised by Devendra Pratap Singh member legislative council (MLC) Gorakhpur-Faizabad graduate constituency.
Singh has written a letter to the chief secretary of Uttar Pradesh RK Tiwari. All the MLAs, MPs and vidhan parishad members have agreed to 30% salary cut to help government treat patients of coronavirus but why is not the bureaucracy not answerable to the country in the same manner, Singh wrote to the chief secretary in the letter on Wednesday.
The letter has created a flutter in the bureaucracy that is at present spearheading the machinery in the time of coronavirus pandemic and guiding policies in the state. ‘Wont you being the head of the bureaucracy will not guide your organization for the Rashtradhram (nationalism)?’ asked Singh in his letter.
Singh has been frank in his statements on various issues and in a recent letter to the chief minister Singh had pointed out upon PCS examination pattern change.
The state government had recently deferred six perks of the state employees that saw opposition in various cities of Uttar Pradesh. Employees staged protest with candle light vigil.
