Which record will Yogi break as UP chief minister

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath will make a new record. He will break record of chief ministers in Uttar Pradesh by staying on the position for the longest tenure. he will complete three years in office on March 18. He had joined office on March 19, 2017.

None of the BJP chief ministers stayed on this position for so long hence Yogi will make this record. BJP has had four CM’s in different years. Kalyan Singh remained the Cm twice and Ram Prakash Gupta and Rajnath Singh once.

BJP made its first government in the state in 1991 when it came with full majority. Kalyan Singh took the oath on June 24, 2991 and remained on the position till December 6, 1992. Kalyan government was terminated after the Babri Mosque demolition. Had the Babri Mosque demolition not happened the Kalyan government would have remained in power.

After this the BJP government in the state was formed with the support of other parties and there were many shadows of politics and turncoats. Kalyan became the chief minister again in September 1997 and remained till November 1999. If both terms of Kalyan are joined his total tenure will be over three years but he did not remained on the chair for continuous three years.

After resignation of Kalyan Ram Prakash Gupta became the chief minister on November 12, 1999 and he remained till October 28, 2000. he was the chief minister for a little less than a year. After his rajnath Singh was the chief minister from 28 October 2000 to March 8, 2002. his tenure too a limited one.

Who completed five years

There have been many colours in the state politics. Those who completed five year term include Govind Ballabh Pant, Sampoornanand, Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav. Mulayam Singh became CM three times and in his last tenure it was longer than three years.

Also Sucheta Kriplani remained CM for three years. The first woman chief minister Sucheta Kriplani remained on the chair from October 02, 1963 to March 13, 1967, for over three years. Now Yogi’s name will be in the list.
