A serious outbreak has been recorded in China after a SARS like virus is said to be viral in the country ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays when people around the world come to spend the season back to their homes in China.
SARC or Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome is new strain of corona virus that has killed over 650 people across the mainland China and Hong Kong in 2002-03.
Reports suggest that at least over 45 people have been tested positive with the infection and two people have died around the central seafood market in the heart of Wuhan an major transport hub, a city with 11 million inhabitants. The scientists at the MRC Centre for Global Infectious Diseases Analysis at the Imperial College of London said the number of cases in the city have reached to 1,700.
After a study conducted by the World Health Organisations doctor said there could be more cases than what has been reported, especially among families who have close contact with one another and it would not be surprise.
‘The WHO has estimated that there could be a ‘total of 1,723’ people infected in Wuhan by January 12. People must be aware of a more human-to-human contact more than ever, while animal exposure was the sole source of the virus, he said.
However the researchers have received reports from overseas also- two in Thailand and one in Japan largely based on facts. The Chinese government has not recorded any travel restrictions by now while authorities in Hong Kong have taken measures by checking rigorous temperature checkpoints for inbound travelers from the Chinese mainland.
The US will start screening flights from Friday arriving from Wuhan at San Francisco airport as well as New Yorks JFK international airport that receives direct flight from China and some are connected to Los Angeles.
