Uttar Pradesh Monday kick started vaccination drive for children between 15 and 18 years of age with a target of 1.40 crore eligible.
The formal start was made from Dr Shayama Prasad Mukherjee hospital in Lucknow, the state capital where the chief minister Yogi Adityanath met children who had come for taking the vaccine dose.
The state has a target to vaccinate about 1.40-crore children between the age of 15 and 18 years, including 3.2 lakh in the state capital.
“The covid virus was getting weak and the omicron variant is weak just as viral fever. State presently has 2261 active cases and over 2100 are in home isolation,” said the CM.
Dedicated booths have been set up at vaccination centres in the state where children can get their vaccine dose. If they are unable to get slots for vaccination booked spot registration and walk in vaccination facility is also available.
Uttar Pradesh has administered over 20-crore doses of covid vaccine to people above 18-years of age.
Uttar Pradesh will be administering covaxin covid vaccine dose to 1.40 crore children between the age of 15 and 18 years. According to the data from the central government there are 3754400 people above the age of 60-years with comorbidity. They will start getting their precaution dose from January 10.
