UP: Naked, burnt body of a woman found near Wildlife sanctuary

Bahraich: Naked and burnt body of a woman was found near the Katarnighat Wildlife Sanctuary in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.

Police said the body was found on Saturday afternoon. Gurav Grover, a senior police officer said the identity of the women is yet to be ascertained. Police said the body had burn injuries that appear from some acid or chemicals.

“It seems that the killers burned the body after the murder in a bid to hide the victim’s identity. Her clothes were also removed apparently for the same reason,” he said.

The police was informed about the body after a few herdsmen came across the body. Later the body was sent for the post-mortem. An SIT is also being set up under a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to probe the case, said Grover.

A similar incident was also reported from Bijnor district on Friday where a charred body of a 28 year-old women was found under a cot in an orchard in Gajraula Shiv. The victim was shot dead in the orchard after which the body was burned in the orchard to hide the identification, the Bijnor police station in-charge Ramesh Chandra Sharma said.
