UP vaccinated 22643 health workers

Uttar Pradesh vaccinated 22643 health workers by 6 pm on the first day of the covid vaccine roll out while across India 191181 beneficiaries were vaccinated.

IN all 317 vaccination centres were planned in Uttar Pradesh and the target was to vaccinated 31700 health workers. UP could meet 71.42% of the target. In Lucknow 845 workers were vaccinated of the target of 1200.

The first day of the massive countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully, claimed the officials. A total of 3,352 sessions were held in India wherein 191181 beneficiaries were vaccinated as per the provisional reports.

Additional 3429 beneficiaries were vaccinated in defence institutions. As many as 16755 personnel were actively involved in organizing the immunization session sites. No case of post-vaccination hospitalization has been reported, so far said a press statement from the union ministry.

Two types of COVID-19 vaccines had been supplied for the vaccination drive. Covishield vaccine (made by Serum Institute of India Ltd) and covaxin vaccine (made by Bharat Biotech International Ltd).

Initially workers were enthusiastic as many of them reached vaccination centre on time and listened to the address by the PM after which the vaccination started.

Dr Surya Kant, head of respiratory medicine department at the KGMU who got the first vaccine shot among doctors said vaccine is safety shield against infection. “It is safe vaccine and all should get it when their turn comes,” said Dr Surya Kant.
