UP ready for covid vaccination, with India

The day one of the covid vaccination will have over 31000 beneficiaries getting the jab for covid in Uttar Pradesh on January 16.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation on the launch of India’s coronavirus vaccination programme which is world’s biggest immunisation drive.
About 300,000 health care workers will get vaccinated across the country on the first day of the massive nationwide drive.
In Lucknow 1,200 health workers will get the jab between 9am and 5pm on the first day. The vaccination will be done at 311 centres of UP, including 12 in Lucknow. UP has listed nine lakh healthcare workers to be vaccinated in the first phase at 1,500 centres. The state has received 10.75 lakh doses of the vaccine till now.
“After the initial process goes smoothly, the number of centres will be increased,” said Dr MK Singh, in-charge of immunisation in Lucknow.
The 12 centres that will conduct the vaccination process in Lucknow are King George’s Medical University (KGMU), SGPGIMS, Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences, Veerangana Avantibai Hospital, Balrampur Hospital, Lokbandhu Hospital, community health centres at Mal and Mohanlalganj, TS Mishra Medical College, Era Medical College, Sahara and Medanta hospitals.
The state government has placed a demand for total 11 lakh vaccines in the first phase. Lucknow has received 6,198 vials of Covishield that have been kept in the Aishbagh cold chain storage point. The state capital has listed names of 51,000 healthcare workers who will get the shot in the first phase.
