Lucknow: Covid cases in Uttar Pradesh have crossed 5-lakh mark, since the state reported its first case on March 2. Covid cases count reached 501311 while covid fatalities reached 7261.
Its more than 250 days now that UP has been reporting covid cases and at present there is a slowdown in number of fresh cases but experts say the threat remains till even a single case is there.
March, when cases started coming up, reported 115 cases in all while April reported 2095 cases. May reported 5747 cases, June reported 14667 cases, July reported 56754 cases. August reported 141336 cases, September reported 163332 cases. October reported 78762 cases. In November (till 10th November) 17479 cases have been reported.
If figures in lakhs is calculated Uttar Pradesh crossed one lakh mark on August 4, two lakh on August 26. On September 12 the state covid tally touched three lakh mark and on October 1, 4-lakh mark. The 5-lakh mark was crossed on November 10.
Experts say until there is single case the threat of covid spreading remains as it spreads from various sources such as droplet infections, various surfaces and also from the infected person. Uttar Pradesh is testing approximately 1.5 lakh samples everyday and the recovery rate is claimed over 93%. Deaths are reported mainly among people with comorbidity.
The average daily cases that had gone up to 7000 in September has now come down below 2000 but with experts talking about a second wave in December people need to remain cautious, particularly when they step out of house.
