Almost 25 people died and 14 were injured in a bone cracking accident, after a double-decker bus rammed into a truck and caught fire on Friday night near Chhibarmau in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh. Many of the passengers inside the bus were trapped after the double-decker caught fire immediately after the accident. However some of the passengers who escaped were severely injured.
Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath reached the accident spot along with the district magistrate and superintendent of police in Kannauj to take out rescue operation. The double-decker bus owned by a private travel company, Vimal Bus Service rammed while taking a sharp right-turn at a T-point and then into a truck coming from that direction near Giloi village while on its way from Chhibramau to Jaipur Rajasthan. The truck dragged the duble-decker for about 10 meters. The fuel tank exploded and the bus caught fire immediately trapping many of the passengers inside due to which the passengers died. Station house officer (SHO) Chhibramau Shailendra Kumar Mishra said, “The fire tenders are trying to control the Fire. There could be casualties as people are inside. How many are in there or how many are hurt is not clear. It will be clear only after the fire gets under control. It was a private and collided with the truck head-on.”
According to the police, almost 25 people boarded the bus from Gursahauganj (Farukhabad) while boarded from Chhibramau but the number are not clear.However, 21 people were brought to the nearest government hospital in Chhibramau who escaped the fire are safe now.
CM Yogi Aditynath has announced to give ex gratia of Rs 2 Lakh each to the family of those who died and Rs 50,000 to those who were injured.
