Lucknow. Taking an initiative for behavioral changes among youths, UNICEF with support of Sharanam Sewa Samiti organized a programme in Dr Shakuntala Mishra National Rehabilitation University, Lucknow. The speakers in the prorgramme stressed on the need of creating awareness and education regarding behavioral change.
The programme was organized in the Social Work department of the university where the in charge of UNICEF, Delhi, Sanjay Singh was the chief guest while the dean, faculty of arts, Professor VK Singh presided it.
The programme was conducted by Prof. Rupesh Kumar Singh. Speaking on the occasion, Head, department of Social Work in Lucknow University, Prof. Anoop Bhartiya said that this subject is already being taught in his department and there is a need to include it in the curriculum of all the colleges. He said that youths are being distracted from right path in the internet era and such course is needed to provide them proper guidance.
The in charge of UNICEF, Uttar Pradesh, Danish Khan said that our personal behavior is being effected by the cultural, environmental and social aspects of the society. We learn good or bad things from the society only. Chief Guest, Sanjay Singh said that UNICEF works on the developmental policies. He informed that such programmes on behavioral change have been organized in 67 universities so far.
Sanjay Singh said that UNICEF is making efforts to get the behavioral change included as a subject in all the universities and colleges. This can help people a lot and this subject can be inducted in any or the course. The aim is to make people aware through this course so that they could not accept misconceptions and misleading things. People should know about their rights and theory of equality and at the same time they need to respect other’s rights.
Head of Social Work department, Shakuntala Mishra University, Archana Singh announced the induction of Communication for Social Behavioral Change (CSBC) as a subject and said that this is important for the students. She said that the youths are taking degrees but this fails to improve their personality.
`We want over all behavioral improvement of students along with taking degree’, she said. Archana Singh also announced to organize a progarmme on artificial intelligence (AI) in the social work department.
In the end the secretary, Sharanam Sewa Samiti, Sharaf Abbas Khan presented vote of thanks. The programme was attended by all the heads of various department in the university.
