Two UP MLAs died of covid

  • UP reports 199 fatalities
  • Poor oxygen supply worsened scenario

Uttar Pradesh government lost its two MLAs to covid on Friday when state reported 199 deaths the highest in one day since the pandemic began in March 2020.

Suresh Srivastava, the MLAs from Lucknow west assembly constituency and Ramesh Diwakar the MLA from Deoria died during treatment while the state reported 199 fresh fatalities. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath and union defence minister Rajnath Singh condoled the deaths.

Both the new covid cases and fatalities are rising in the state that has reported over 10-lakh covid cases till now. Total covid cases caseload reached 1013370 and death toll reached 10737.

During the past 24-hours state conducted 225236 covid tests and till now 39314905 tests have been conducted. Of the total 273653 active cases in state 218000 were in home isolation.

Meanwhile poor oxygen supply continued to trouble patients both covid and non-covid category as hospitals kept asking the attendants to get their patients discharged.

Several hospitals in Lucknow had put up notices asking patients to leave and new admissions were stopped, which resulted in to major trouble for the patients.

The train with a major stock of 60000 litres of liquid oxygen is likely to reached Lucknow in next few hours.

The state government has planned 31 oxygen separators at hospitals while 1500 oxygen concentrators will be provided for use of individual patients.
