Two more coronavirus cases, UP count 19

Two fresh cases of corona virus were reported in the state Thursday as men from Lucknow, and Lakhimpur Kheri districts tested positive in the morning.

Total number of cases in Uttar Pradesh is now 20 with 8 from Agra, two from Gaziabad, four from Noida, four from Lucknow and one from Lakhimpur Kheri. The two patients have travel history. The one from Lucknow came back from London while the one from Lakhimpur came from Turkey on March 4.

They were admitted to the KGMU when they developed symptoms. Treatment has began and their condition is stable, said Dr Sudhir Singh, the KGMU medical cell in charge.

The state government to curb virus spread has closed all cinema halls, multiplexes, gyms, swimming pools, and schools. The Ramkrishna Math cancelled all its classes and announced the same in the morning while all Sunday masses under the Diocese of Lucknow too have been suspended till March 31.

A day before a doctor at KGMU, who was treating patients of coronavirus got infected and KGMU decided to shut all academic activities including MBBS, BDS, nursing, paramedical classes. Also the OPD registration was reduced by stopping the registration time from 12.30 pm to 11 am.

Doctors are also advising the patients to postpone the surgery which can be postponed to avoid crowd in the hospital.

Lucknow had got its first case on March 11 as a woman doctor who returned from Canada tested positive. In the state capital cinema halls, schools, gyms and swimming pools are closed. In the morning the head of Mankameshwar temple announced the temple be closed for devotes till March 31. Contingency plans have been made by the health department to meet any situation.
