The medical education department has constituted inquiry against Dr Rajeshwar Dayal, HoD paediatrics at state medical college Agra after he refused to perform duty principal of the college.
Dr GK Aneja, the principal left on medical leave on March 16 and then it was decided to give the charge to Dr Dayal, from April 5. He agreed to it but later on April 6 he went to the district magistrate and said he wont take the principal’s charge.
This created administrative problems on the campus till Dr AK Ayra took charge in the time when focus was needed on COVID-19, said the letter from the office of principal secretary medical education department Rajneesh Dubey.
“Inquiry has been set up and the divisional commissioner Agra will conduct the inquiry,” said the letter.
Another faculty of the SN Medical College in Agra, Dr PK Maheshwari has been suspended as he violated the rules for home quarantine, despite he had sent his sample for coronavirus lab test on March 27 and then again on April 5.
“As per the rules samples are sent if there is a doubt about infection hence Dr PK Maheshwari should have followed home quarantine but he went to his office within 14-days duration,” said the letter from the office of principal secretary medical education department.
Dr Maheshwari not only travelled between home and office but when he felt he should be in quarantine he went to the hotel booked for medical staff for the purpose of passive quarantine. Such facility is for the medical staff attending coronavirus patients but Dr Maheshwari, who was not on coronavirus duty, also used it, breaking the norms and putting the other medical employees at risk of infection.
