Money is the mother’s milk of politics, as the old saying goes. The dramatic development comes after Digvijay Singh on Monday claimed that the BJP is trying to destabilise the government in the state. Singh had alleged that Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Narottam Mishra, were trying to lure the Congress MLAs and accused them of offering Rs 25 to 35 crore to the legislators. Congress MLA Baijnath Kushwaha on Tuesday, too had claimed that BJP leaders were offering him Rs 25 crore, but State BJP chief spokesman Deepak Vijayvargiya on Tuesday had dismissed Kushwaha’s claims, terming them as “a bunch of lies”.
A day after Congress leader Digvijaya Singh alleged that eight MLAs have been forcefully kept at the hotel by the ruling BJP, major political drama has unfolded in Madhya Pradesh late last night as state ministers Jaivardhan Singh and Jeetu Patwari were seen leaving from a hotel in Gurugram with BSP MLA. The 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly has 114 Congress MLAs and 107 from BJP.
Seven members, including four Independents, one SP and two BSP legislators, have extended support to the Congress-led government.

Political leaders changing parties during election and after election is a very-very normal think in india. This is a dangerous trend in a parliamentary democracy. changing parties is as easy as changing clothes, parties clearly do not stand for a given set of values and practices that articulates those values strongly enough.
Politically their deserting a party and joining another, shows nobody is interested in the society’s development or the nation. They just want to serve for themselves. Such people are not useful for the society as they do not practise the ideology of any political party.

All political party is welcoming turncoats, especially when they forming government, want power and state. By doing so they are just being unlawful to the real essence of our electoral democracy and the spirit of our Constitution. People have the weapon of vote to dislodge their representative if they feel he was not truthful and productive. It’s a continuous process in the democratic system. Elections take place barometer the mood of the voters – to give them an opportunity to assess and decide on the performance of their representatives in Parliament or assembly after every five years.
Nobody should be allowed to take liberty or play with the sentiments of the common man or the power bestowed on him by the Constitution. Allowing space to turncoats, political parties are defeating the very essence of this system. Every political party should start an inner consultation on handling these turncoats. They must do some bold steps to stop this act of betrayal. It’s high time every political party starts thinking about it.
