LUCKNOW. The uttar pradesh legislative assembly elections have gone through three phases. the fourth phased of polling is to be held on february 23. All the political parties are throwing their full strength in the elections. Like the first fourth phases, the fifth phase is also dominated by the candidates with criminal prosecution . All political parties have relied on candidates with criminal prosecution .
Uttar pradesh election watch and association for democratic reform (ADR) studied the affidavit of 685 candidates out of 693 candidates who have filed nomination for 61 seats in the fifth phase; it became clear that no political party is bothered about it. that people with clean image should come in politics. the priority of all political parties is to find and field a winning candidate.
Talking about all the candidates contesting for 61 seats, 27 percent of candidates have criminal cases registered against them. Talking about serious criminal cases , 21 percent of the candidates have serious criminal cases registered against them.
Talking about political parties giving ticket to people with criminal image, 59 candidates of samajwadi party are in the fray in the fifth phase . of these, 42 i.e. 71 percent are facing criminal cases. Apna dal (sonelal) has fielded seven candidates. so four of them have criminal cases registered against them .
Apna dal relied on 57 percent candidates against whom criminal cases are pending. bharatiya janata party fielded 52 candidates. Of these , 25 have criminal cases against them. meaning 48 percent of BJP candidates have criminal cases against them. both the bahujan samaj party and the congress have fielded their candidates on all 61 seats.
there are criminal cases against 23-23 candidates of both the political parties. Meaning both the congress and BSP have relied on 38 percent tainted candidates in the selection of criminal candidates . The Aam Aadmi party which talks about honesty in politics, have fielded 52 candidates, but out of these , 10 candidates have criminal cases registered against them. 19 percent of The Aam Aadmi party are of criminal nature.
Talking about serious criminal cases 49% of samajwadi party, 29 percent of apna dal sonelal , 42 percent of BJP, 28 percent of each of BSP and congress , 14% of Aam Aadmi party candidates are facing serious criminal cases.
Among all candidates for the fifth phase , 21 criminal cases have been registered against yash bhadra singh, the candidate of bahujan samaj party from Isauli seat of sultanpur. the police have imposed 26 serious sections aganist them. there are 35 criminal cases against samajwadi party candidate sandeep yadav from allahabad north seat of prayagraj.
the police have imposed 24 serious sections against him. mukesh srivastava , who have fielded on samajwadi party ticket from pagaypur seat of bahraich, has nine criminal cases registered against him, but cases are registered against him in 21 serious sections. there are cases of on women against 12 candidates in the fifth phase of elections.
a case of rape is also registered against one candidate. there are cases of murder against eight candidates and attempt to murder against 31. out of the 61 constituencies in the fifth phase, 39 have been considered sensitive as there are criminal cases against three or more candidates in these area.
