Lucknow : Health officials in the state are on their toes after three of a family, who came back to Meerut city in Uttar Pradesh after travelling UK tested positive for covid.
The state had alerted the officials and asked the directorate general of covil aviation to give a list of travellers who returned back from abroad since November 23. Those who returned till December 9 had to be kept under watch for 28-days while those returning to India since December 9 had to be tested for covid with RT PCR.
The family came back on December 14 and their test were conducted. Their fresh samples will now be sent to NIV Pune for finding out whether they suffer with any new strain that spread in the UK or not.
Travellers from UK have come back to UP in different cities including Lucknow. Reports of 50 travellers from abroad has come negative while samples of another 30 is in process to check their covid status via RT PCR in Lucknow.

The health department in the state capital has a list of 134 such travellers who came to Lucknow and have a travel history of UK after December 9. Another list of 130 travellers who came to India between November 23 and December 9 is with the health department and these travellers are under observation.
If symptoms arrive they shall be tested. All those who test positive will be tested again for genome sequencing at NIV, Pune, official said.
