Hyderabad. Grace Cancer Foundation and Infosys Foundation Exchanged MoU in the presence of Smt. A. Nirmala Kanthi Wesley, IAS, Director, Women Development & Child Welfare, Government of Telangana at a brief function held on Saturday evening at Hotel Daspalla in Jubilee Hills
The MoU was formally exchanged by Dr. Chinnababu Sunkavalli, Senior Consultant Robotic Surgical Oncologist and the founder of GRACE Cancer Foundation and Mr. Vamshi Muthyapu, Project Manager of Infosys Ltd on behalf of Infosys Foundation.
The MoU was entered on the auspicious occasion of International Child Cancer Day on Saturday.
The MoU was entered for HPV Vaccination Drive. Under this agreement Infosys Foundation will support Grace Cancer Foundation to the extent of 500 beneficiaries. On the whole it will be 1000 doses as beneficiaries need to take two doses within six months.
Speaking on the occasion Smt. A. Nirmala Kanthi Wesley, IAS, Director, Women Development & Child Welfare, Government of Telangana said Telangana must become a cancer free state. She appreciated both the foundations for this initiative which is the need of the hour.
She appealed to Vamshi Muthyapu, representative of Infosys Foundation to consider 100 girls studying in the Orphanage run by the Department for the vaccine. For which Mr Vamshi responded positively and hundred beneficiaries of the Orphanage will be administered the HPV Vaccine on World Womens Day on March 8.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Chinnababu said let us prevent, preventable cancers. Cervical Cancer is 100% preventable with the HPV Vaccine. So that Cervical Cancer is no more a threat to humanity. It is the most affordable and indigenously made vaccine. Let us make Telangana a Cervical Free Cancer Day
Just the way Polio is eradicated from the world, so should be the Cancer particularly Cervical Cancer, which is the second most cancer prevalent in women should be eliminated from this world, said Vamshi Muthyapu from Infosys Foundation. We will finish 250 doses before the end of March this year and balance after that said Vamshi. He wished other organisations to come forward to support this HPV Vaccination drive and the drive becomes from 500 doses to 5000 doses with their support
The beneficiaries will be identified by Grace Cancer Foundation. They will be girls from underprivileged backgrounds in the age group of 9 to 14 years, from localities in and around Pocharam and Gachibowli, where Infosys Campuses are located in the city. We will also look for girls from Government schools and underprivileged backgrounds, added Dr Chinna Babu.
