State president of international Hindu mahasabha shot dead in Lucknow

Ranjit Bachchan, the Uttar Pradesh chief of the international Hindu mahasabha was shot dead in state capital’s Hazratganj area on Sunday morning while he was on his morning walk near the globe park.
The killing has once against raise doubts upon the law and order situation in the state as the area where the incident took place is the heart of the city and main activity area that remains crowded since morning. Questions are being raised upon policing.
It is said that Ranjit Bachchan was on his morning walk when assailants waylaid him and opened fire targeting his head. This resulted in to fatal injury on the spot. Cops reached the spot and sent the body for a post mortem examination. The reasons behind this murder is yet to be made clear.
Ranjit lived in OCR building in Hazratganj and was a native of Gorakhpur. He was associated with Samajwadi Party too, earlier, and used to take part in SP’s party events. Cops have formed separate teams to nab assailants.
The incident took place at around 6.30 am, when there was comparatively less crowd due to weekly holiday at schools. Ranjit was with his friend Ashish Srivastava, who is injured in this attack. The incident took place when they both were coming out of the park. Ashish is admitted to the trauma centre. The assailant is said to have come near Ranjit and shot him.
Last year in October another Hindu outfit leader Kamlesh Tiwari was shot dead in his house. Hehad founded the Hindu Samaj Party in 2017. The assailants had come to meet him on the pretext of working for his outfit, Hindu Samaj Party.
