Hours after the BJP released its election manifesto the Samajwadi Party (SP), did so on Tuesday, listing some significant promises for the voters if the SP makes next government in the state.
SP’s National President Akhilesh Yadav while releasing the manifesto said that we (when his party made government in 2012) did what we said in the 2012 election manifesto.
Introduction of old pension scheme, free electricity, petrol, free laptop to 12th pass are part of the manifesto. Akhilesh said in four years’ time farmers will be made debt free.
A compensation of Rs 25 will be given to kin of farmers who lost their lives during farmers’ protests and a farmers’ memorial will also be made in the state. MSP would be provided for all crops. Sugarcane farmers will be paid dues within 15 days. All farmers will be made debt-free within four years. Free electricity, the interest-free loan will be given to all farmers for irrigation, the manifesto read among other promises.
The manifesto, is tiltled ‘Samajwadi Vachan Patra’ and has been given a tag line ‘satya vachan atoot wada.’
The former CM of Uttar Pradesh promised to reserve 33% jobs for women in government jobs. In another significant announcement, Akhilesh said one litre free petrol will be given for all two-wheelers in the state every month.
Akhilesh read out not all but several significant promises of his party. One such as a helpline for migrant workers. The issue of migrant workers came up significantly in the covid pandemic and the helpline will be for such workers who earn livelihood outside UP.
Introduction of an urban employment guarantee Act on the lines of MGNREGA, free education for girls from primary classes till post-graduation along with a launch of ‘Kanya Vidhya Dhan’ scheme that will provide one-time payment of Rs 36,000 to girls who clear their Class 12 board exam are included in the manifesto. Akhilesh said health budget will be raised three times and cashless service will be provided for poor.
