What NATO chief had said earlier about Russia-Ukraine war, found mention in the G7 summit Monday when Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky told global leaders about ending the war by the year end.
Zelensky addressed G7 summit via video-link, calling for more weapons for Ukraine. He told global leaders gathered in Germany that he wants the war to end by the end of the year before winter sets in.
Zelenskyy according to the sources, told leaders that now it is not a time for negotiation with Russia because he first needs to be in stronger position.
Germany holds the presidency of the G7 in 2022. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Germany to attend the Group of Seven (G7) Summit at Schloss Elmau, a century-old retreat in a nature reserve in the Bavarian Alps. G7 is an inter-governmental political forum consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States.
UK PM Boris Johnson is to call for action to get grain supplies out of Ukraine’s blockaded ports as fears grow of famine in Africa and the Middle East.
US national security adviser Jake Sullivan said Zelenskyy’s priority request was for air defense systems. Sullivan said most of the conversation was about the way forward and how President Zelenskyy sees the course of the war.
Zelenskyy also briefed the G—7 leaders on how his administration has the assistance he’s received to date to maximize Ukraine’s capacity both to resist Russian advances, and to pursue counter attacks where possible, Sullivan said.

Indian prime minister Narendra Modi too has reached Germany for the G7 summit. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz welcomed Modi at the G7 Summit. Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a productive meeting with Argentinian President Alberto Fernandez in Munich on the sidelines of the G7 Summit on Sunday and reviewed the full range of the bilateral ties.
