Lucknow: A show cause notice to two resident doctors of the Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences is doing rounds among doctors of the state via whats ap. It demands answer from both on why should not action be taken against them as one of the patients escaped from campus.
The matter is related to an incident of April 18. A patient admitted as destitute ran away from the isolation ward the next day. The isolation ward is for coronavirus patients and there were other patients admitted.
When the patient ran away a search was launched an police caught him and brought back. Later he was shifted to some other isolation facility. And the institute director issued a notice to the resident doctors who were on duty when the iincident took place.
“You were on duty. Why should not action be taken against you. Submit a reply on it,” said the notice served to both the senior residents Dr VK Saini and Dr MK Tiwari. The resident doctors across institutes are upset and are asking whether a doctor is required to treat patients or keep vigil.
“Are we doctors or guards who will keep an eye upon people going in and coming out of the ward. What is the security doing?” asked the resident doctors of other institutes on a whats app group while sharing the notice with media.
The institute has security and after the incident additional force was deployed. “Why then additional force is deployed. rather deploy doctors on the gates,” said another resident doctor irked with the doubts raised upon resident doctors.
The notice demands immediate reply but the resident doctors are thinking what should be the reply to such a letter where they are being asked to replay for the fault of some other department.
