Protesters reach India Australia ODI match with ‘No CAA’ playcards

 

 

MUMBAI: The ODI match between India and Australia on Tuesday saw a group of fans at the Wankhede Stadium were seen ‘protesting’ in the pavilion, wearing t-shirts and holding banners to oppose Citizenship Amendment Act and the National Register of Citizenship.

The group called as the ‘Mumbai Against CAA’ were seen holding play cards that says ‘No CAA, No CAB and No NPR’. They later left the stadium as there were strict order from the police to keep track of people wearing black or showing any such interest at the entry gate, but the group consisting of 26 people passed through gates wearing printed white t shirts.

“The group had 26 people in total and all of them were sitting in the Vijay Merchant Pavillion side. They vacated the stadium soon after India started loosing wickets and falling in heap,” Fawad Ahmad from the group said.

Even the social media was filled with news that no person wearing black clothes are allowed in the stadium by security guards, while a senior member of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) Apex Council said no such orders were issued by the authorities.

“There was no diktat about any colour, nor posters of any sort were allowed inside the stadium as the instructions came directly from the police,” he said.
