Who would have forgot Princess Diana. The name is enough to make image of a kind hearted royal princess come alive before the eyes and now a biopic is coming up.

The biopic, which premieres at Venice Film Festival next month ahead of its November release, recounts a Christmas holiday taken at the royal family’s Sandringham estate in 1991.

Kristen Stewart plays Lady Di in the movie, which centers around three pivotal days in Diana’s life. The 31-year-old American actress, best known for her starring role in The Twilight Saga, is playing the iconic British royal.

Stewart expressed her enthusiasm about the role. “I haven’t been this excited about playing a part, by the way, in so long,” she said. However, playing Princess Diana does not come without its challenges. First off, getting that accent just right.

“The accent is intimidating as all hell because people know that voice, and it’s so, so distinct and particular,” the actress noted. “I’m working on it now and already have my dialect coach.”

Stewart also conducted extensive research about the late princess in order to do her justice. “It’s one of the saddest stories to exist ever, and I don’t want to just play Diana—I want to know her implicitly,” she said.

The film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival, which is scheduled to begin on September 1. As for the general public, Spencer hit theatres November 5, 2021.

The teaser trailer is the first time viewers have seen footage of Stewart as Diana. The video begins with the royals arriving at the Sandringham Estate, and quickly illustrates Diana’s suffering. Stewart runs through the halls in a white ballgown and the trailer concludes with an aid telling Diana, “They know everything,” to which she replies, “They don’t.”

Princess Diana is known to have spent Christmas at Sandringham with other members of the royal family in 1991. The dress featured in the poster appears to reference several of Princess Diana’s best-known outfits. The long train evokes her 1981 wedding dress, designed by David and Elizabeth Emanuel, though the sparkling details.
