PNB Pays Tribute to National Heroes through Rakshak Plus Scheme

  • Family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav receives ₹1 crore under PNB’s initiative for defence personnel

Lucknow. Reaffirming its commitment to the brave hearts who serve the nation, Punjab National Bank (PNB), nation’s leading public sector bank, disbursed a financial aid of ₹1 crore to the family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav, a resident of Jagdara village in Ballia, under its flagship PNB Rakshak Plus Scheme. The solemn event took place in Sikandarpur, Ballia (Uttar Pradesh), honouring the supreme sacrifice of the soldier who lost his life in a tragic accident while on duty.

Ballia District Magistrate Praveen Kumar Laxkar, while handing over the cheque, said, “There is no compensation for the life of a soldier. But when institutions like Punjab National Bank step forward to support the families of martyrs, it sends a powerful message to society—that we must stand with those who protect us.”

Speaking on the initiative, Shri Bibhu P. Mahapatra, Executive Director, PNB, said: “At PNB, we believe our role extends beyond financial services—it is anchored in a profound commitment to the nation and to those who courageously defend it. The Rakshak Plus Scheme is a true reflection of our respect and unwavering support for the brave men and women in uniform. The assistance extended to the family of Martyr Lance Naik Jitendra Kumar Yadav is not just financial aid—it is a heartfelt tribute to his sacrifice and a reminder that the nation honours and remember its heroes.”

PNB’s Rakshak Plus Scheme has emerged as a symbol of gratitude and duty towards India’s defence as well as uniformed personnel and their families. It provides financial coverage in the form of personal accidental insurance of ₹1 crore in case of death as well as permanent total disability and air accidental coverage of ₹1.5 crore in the event of death. The scheme includes partial disability coverage and comprehensive benefits tailored to the needs of those in uniform.

The scheme extends to a wide range of defence, CAPFs (Central Armed Police Forces), and paramilitary personnel, including members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, CRPF, BSF, CISF, ITBP, SSB, Agniveers, Indian Coast Guard, State and Metro Police, RAW, IB, CBI, RPF, NSG, SPG, NDRF, firefighters, and even trainees and Gentlemen Cadets.

In 2025 alone, several families of martyrs across India—including those from Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and other states—have received financial assistance under the Rakshak Plus Scheme, reinforcing PNB’s commitment to the nation’s defence community.
