Pay salaries, submit certificate: CMO to hospitals

News Desk

Doctor/owners of private sector hospitals and clinics in Gorakhpur and Prayagraj have to give in writing that they have paid salaries of all their staff and submit the same with the office of the chief medical officers.

The health department in an order for such hospitals in Gorakhpur has asked them to comply with the order, based upon the directive from the district administration. The order says failure of compliance shall call action.

The order has been opposed by different medical associations. ‘If the government is not paying salaries of our staff why should they ask certificate of payment from us,’ said Dr Rama Srivastava, president of the IMA Lucknow.

The doctors however said that if any of the hospitals or clinics do not pay salary or terminate staff action should be taken against such medical establishment.

“But there is no need of asking all hospitals to submit a certificate that they have paid salaries of all their staff. Such a demand will increase trouble for health department that is already overburdened with work during lockdown for the COVID-19. How can the department go through and verify thousands of such certificates,” said Dr Anoop Agrawal, general secretary Uttar Pradesh Orthopaedic Association. The action is Gorakhpur came after 17 staff members in a lab were ousted without notice.

In Prayagraj district also similar order was passed stating a state government order which says all employees in private sector be paid their salaries for March in the first week of April. The CMO, Prayagraj too has demanded a similar certificate by all hospitals. The associations have however opposed the idea saying they are themselves worried about their staff.
