New York: The United National Security Council has once again duped Pakistan’s claims of raising the Kashmir issue pointing towards Islamabad to focus on normalizing relations with India. Islamabad has tried and failed after it held a closed door meeting with its long term friend China that shares border with India.
India’s Permanent Representative to the UN Syed Akhbaruddin said, “We once again saw an effort made by one member state of the UN, fail in plain view of all others”.
China tried to make his point in a closed door consultation meet in the Security Council Consultations Room to raise the Kashmir issue but was turned towards resolving bilateral issues by ‘many friends’ said Akbaruddin on Wednesday.
“We are glad that the effort was viewed as a distraction and it was pointed out by many friends that bilateral mechanisms are available to raise and address issues that Pakistan may have its ties with India”.

A Chinese Ambassador to the UN who attended the meeting said, “We had a meeting on J&K. The Prime Minister of Pakistan wrote letter to UNSC, asking it to pay attention to the current situation in J&K. The issue of India and Pakistan has always been on the agenda of the UNSC, and today we have also seen some tensions, so the UNSC heard at a briefing the situation on the ground.”
