Over 86,000 fresh Covid cases were registered in 24 hours in India as the tally zoomed past 5.7 million. The death toll also climbed from 90,020 to 91,149 during the same period, data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated.
India till now has reported 5,732,518 cases, 91,173 deaths and 4,674,987 patients have recovered. The USA has reported 7,139,553 cases and is on the first position in terms of number of cases. Globally, over 31.7 million people have been infected while 975,163 have succumbed to the virus. Also, 21,889,533 people have recovered so far.
Meanwhile vaccine trials have also moved a step ahead with Johnson & Johnson beginning a 60,000-person trial of an experimental single-shot COVID-19 vaccine. The company expects results of the Phase III trial by year end or early next year.
IN Uttar Pradesh the phase 3 trial of the vaccine by the Bharat Biotech is slated to begin in Lucknow and Gorakhpur, for which the state government has given its nod.

In India Maharashtra has maximum caseload. Maharashtra covid tally has reached Of the state’s total Covid-19 cases, 2,72,410 patients are under treatment, while 9,36,554 have recovered. Mumbai’s tally rose to 1,87,904 with 8,555 fatalities. Pune count has reached 1,44,265.
