Rahul Gandhi is likely to visit Hathras once again on Saturday and meet the family of the Dalit girl while West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to take out a protest march ion Kolkata.
“No power in this world can stop me from meeting the bereaved family of Hathras and sharing their pain,” Rahul Gandhi tweeted in the morning. Heavy police deployment has been made at the entrance of Boolgarhi village in Hathras ahead of Rahul Gandhi’s visit.
Several leaders including, Trinamool Congress’ Derek O’Brien, Congress’ Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had tried reaching the village of the girl but were stopped and manhandled by the police.
The Gandhi siblings were briefly detained at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida while they were on their way to the village on Friday. During the scuffle with police, Gandhi could be seen falling on the ground in videos.
The Congress leader is likely to go to Hathras once again today and meet the family members. Priyanka Gandhi in the morning tweeted, and asked UP government that the family should not be threatened.
“The UP government is morally corrupt. The victim did not get proper treatment, they did not lodged complaint on time, they burnt her body forcibly, the family is in captivity, they are being pressurized and now they are being threatened that there will be a narco test. This behavior is not acceptable to the country. Stop bullying the victim’s family,” Priyanka tweeted.
Hathras district turned into fortress, as police barricaded the entry points for politicians, media and everyone other than police and administration. The details of the gruesome incident have sent shockwaves across the country and triggered a massive outrage. Activists and opposition leaders have demanded the resignation of Uttar Pradesh chief minister.
A 19-year-old Dalit girl was allegedly gang-raped in Hathras and succumbed to her injuries in Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital earlier this week. Her family members have claimed that the police cremated her forcefully in the dead of the night and they were not even allowed to bring the body home.

Administration sealed the borders of the district. Police have set up barricades and blocked all access paths and deployed policemen even on the mud tracks and in the fields to ward off anyone from accessing the village.
Uttar Pradesh government has formed a special investigation team (SIT) to probe the case of the alleged murder and gang-rape of the woman. On the basis of a preliminary inquiry report the chief minister suspended the superintendent of police Vikrant Vir and four other policemen.
The West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee is likely to take out a protest march in Kolkata against the Hathras gang-rape case. The rally will start at 4pm and the participants will walk from Birla Planetarium to Mahatma Gandhi’s statue in central Kolkata.
“Have no words to condemn the barbaric and shameful incident at hathras involving a young Dalit girl. My deepest condolences to the family. More shameful is the forceful cremation without the family’s presence or consent, exposing those who use slogans and lofty promises for votes,” West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted four-days before.
