New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday dismissed the curative petition filed by two of the four death row convicts of 2012 Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case Mukesh Singh and Vinay Sharma.
The five-judge bench of the Supreme Court NV Ramana, Arun Mishra, RF Nariman, R Banumati and Ashok Bhusan said that there is no merit in their pleas to spare them from the gallows.
The court had given Mukesh Kumar (32) and Vinay Sharma (26) two seeks to use any legal remedies possible. A curative petition is filed by the complainants that the grounds mentioned in it were their but earlier somehow were dismissed by circulation. The top court ordered the death warrant on Tuesday against the four convicts that will be hanged on January 22 at 7am at Tihar jail of Uttar Pradesh.
Vinay Sharma in his curative petition wrote that the court has erroneously rejected him of being a minor at the time of the crime. He said the judgment of apex court have definitely changed the death sentence to life imprisonment as it have done in the past for convicts similarly placed as him.
While, the other two convicts did not filed for a curative plea. Death warrant for Akshay kumar Singh (31) and Pawan Gupta (25) were issued also been issued.

On Sunday, a dummy test was executed at the Tihar jail where four dummies were created using sacks filled with debris and stones were used according to their weight and height, a senior official at the jail said.
