Nearly one lakh fresh covid cases were recorded in India taking the overall tally to 44,65,863, while the death toll with 1,172 fresh fatalities in the last 24 hours, reached 75,062, according to the union health ministry data showed.
Precisely India recorded 95,735 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24-hours, coming very close to crossing the one lakh-mark in daily infection number. So far, no country has crossed, or even came close to one lakh daily cases mark.
The number of active cases stand at 9,19,018, while the number of patients discharged from the hospital has reached 34,71,783.
The country is inching towards another grim milestone of 1,00,000 daily Covid-19 cases. On Wednesday, it added 95,950 new cases of the disease, data compiled by HT from across the states showed. So far, no other country has crossed the one lakh-mark, or even came close to it.
The health ministry said the country’s recovery rate has further improved to 77.77%. It also said that 61% of the Wednesday’s cases were reported from only five states — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu.
Maharashtra has reported 967349 cases, Karnataka 412730 cases, Andhra Pradesh 527512, Uttar Pradesh 285041, and Tamil Nadu 480524 cases.
