More audience in Tamil Nadu cinema

The Tamil Nadu government has allowed to increase the seating capacity of cinema halls, theatres, multiplexes from existing 50% to 100% following COVID-19 protocols.

This means more cinema goes can now watch their favourite movie inside the halls. The permission came via a notification by the state government.

It was after many film stars like actor Vijay requested the state government to give permission for 100% capacity before Pongal. The state government had granted permission to cinema theatres and multiplexes to reopen with 50% seating capacity since November 10, 2020.

Other states in India are yet to relax the 50% cap inside the cinema halls and even the gathering in any social event is limited. Even on new year the parties were allowed with riders for gathering and timings were to be strictly followed.

Now, Tamil Nadu government has permitted to increase the seating capacity of cinemas, theatres and multiplexes from existing 50% to 100% by following the standard operating procedure issued already.

However the state government has asked the cinema hall owners to follow the guidelines/SOPs strictly. As per the notification issued by the state government, in order to create awareness among the spectators, the precautionary measures for COVID-19 shall also be screened during the show time.
