Criticising Congress, after Priyanka Gandhi Vadra took a u-turn upon being the CM face in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls, BSP chief Mayawati termed Congress a party that contests to divide votes.
IN a series of tweets Mayawati said, ‘Parties such as Congress are just parties that divide votes in UP election. IN such a situation the BJP should be ousted and in the interest of all a government that has worked for all should be voted to form government. And for this BSP is on number one position.’
“The Congress is such a bad situation that their CM candidate changed her stand in just a few hours. In such a situation it will be better that people do not vote for Congress but vote for BSP, one and all,” Mayawati tweeted.
UP elections have been announced and the new government will be decided on March 10, when counting of the votes polled will be over. There are over 15-crore voters and 403 constituencies that shall vote in 7 phases between February 10 and March 7. Politicians and party presidents have begun their campaigning and tickets are being given to candidates. BJP, Congress, BSP and other parties are announcing candidates.
At present campaigning is being under specific restrictions from the Election Commission of India. No road show, Pad-yatra, cycle/bike/vehicle rally and procession shall be allowed till January 31, 2022, the ECI has decided.
Since contesting candidates for Phase one elections will be finalised on January 27, Commission has decided to allow physical meetings of concerned Political parties or contesting candidates in designated open spaces with a maximum of 500 persons or 50% of the capacity of the ground or the prescribed limit set by SDMA, whichever number is lesser, from January 28 till February 8.
