Massage from Jal Samwad #CatchTheRain

On the occasion of World Water Day, WaterAid India organized a Jal Samwad, Jal Mela event on 22nd March 2021 in Gandhi Bhawan, Kaiserbagh, Lucknow.  Following the global theme of  World Water Day 2021-‘Valuing Water’, WaterAid India celebrated  water and raised awareness regarding conserving water. Jal Samwad was focused on  largely connecting people working on the similar grounds, providing a platform to connect with each other, share their experiences as each individual has their share of knowledge & experience they bring to the table, which helped everyone.

Jal Samwad included discussion on taking action to tackle the global water crisis and achieving Sustainable Development Goal 6: water and sanitation for all by 2030. Chief Guest of the event Dr. Mahendra Singh,  Minister of Jal Shakti inaugurated the stalls and congratulated WaterAid India for the commendable work and shared the aims of the government enlightening people with the various initiatives being taken. He laid his focus on the Catch the Rain and emphasized on ensuring that each and every institution has Rain Water Harvesting system.

Dr. Heela Lal, IAS officer said Conserving Water is not only the responsibility of the government but each and every individual is responsible for the conservation of water. Panelists Dr. R. S. Sinha, Ajeet Kushwaha, Dr. Venkatesh Dutta, Farrukh Rehman Khan also emphasized  on taking the necessary actions on water conservation and ground water recharge

Whereas Jal Mela witnessed the showcasing of various unique and effecient. RWH, Grey Water Treatment models, IECs and experminetal models by many NGOs and CGWB,  20 stalls were put up.

The event included the participation of  Director CGWB, Chairperson CII, Director NYK and participation from CGWB, CII, SWSM, Jal Nigam, various NGOs, Universities, individuals working on water, other government officials etc. Nearly 250 participants were present in the event, abiding by all the Covid-19 protocols.
