The picture has not been confirmed by any media in any country and even US president when asked said, “we would make comment at an appropriate time”. This is first public appearance of Kim in about three weeks after global speculation.
Kim Jong-un the North Korean politician who has been the Supreme Leader of North Korea since 2011 is the second child of Kim Jong-il, who was North Korea’s second leader from 1994 to 2011, and Ko Yong-hui. Speculations were rife about his illness and death after a cardiac surgery.
As per the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim spoke publicly at the event to celebrate Labor Day and inaugurate a fertilizer factory. “When the Sunchon Phosphatic Fertilizer Manufacturing Plant goes into operation, it will represent a historical development in our country’s fertilizer industry, it will be a glorious revolution and a splendid display of our nation’s great economic potential, and it will be an uplifting banner that assures us of the achievements of our country’s general economic frontline,” Kim according to the KCNA report said.
The report added that Kim “expressed satisfaction about the wonderful creation” and congratulated staff from Kim Chaek University of Technology. KCNA also released a still purportedly showing Kim at the ceremony. The picture shows him cutting a red ribbon, with his sister Kim Yo-jong seen behind him. None of the news agencies in the world have yet identified the picture and speculations still go on about the picture.
Speculations came up about Kim after he missed the celebration of his grandfather’s birthday on April 15. He had been seen four days before that at a politburo meeting, according to KCNA.
