In Kerala, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced to give Rs.12,000 crore to almost 6 thousand farmers in the country as a gesture on this new year. He has also announced the Kisaan Samaan Nidhi (PM-KISAN) programme as a part of February’s budget .
The Prime Minister will transfer money to the farmers today from Tumakuru in Keala.
However, 8 core farmers have already benefited from the first half of the budget but this time the budget reduced to Rs.55,000 crore in which almost. The budget was at first decided to be of Rs.87 crore.
Electronic cash transfer
The farmers will receive the money electronically to their bank accounts under the PM Kisan Samaan Nidhi (PK-KISAN). The last installment of the cash will be transferred by the Prime Minister himself to six crore families. The Scheme was first announced in Gorakhpur last year in February to give out Rs.6,000 in three installment’s benefiting up to 12 crore small and marginal farmers. Farmers having land of up to 2 hectare are eligible for the direct benefit Transfer (DBT).
