India’s corona virus tally on Monday crossed 60-lakh mark with 82,170 new cases reported in the past 24-hours. As many as 1039 new deaths were reported in the past 24 hours, pushing the toll to 95,542 in the country.
Of the total 60,74,703 cases, India currently has 9,62,640 active cases, while 5,01,6521 people have been discharged. Globally, India has the second-highest number of coronavirus cases, behind the United States where infections crossed 7 million last week. India, however, topped the global chart in terms of virus recoveries.
Though number of fresh cases have gone down but the last one million cases were added in 11-days in the country. Union health ministry, has said on Sunday that India recorded 10 lakh recoveries in the last 11 days.
India’s total recoveries cross the landmark milestone of 50 lakh. The last 10 lakh recoveries were added in just 11 days. It added that recovered cases have outpaced active cases by over five times.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), has said the cumulative total samples tested up to September 26 is 7,12,57,836. The number of samples tested on September 26 is 9,87,861. The vaccine trials are also being given push in the country. The third phase trial of the vaccine by the Bharat Biotech is slated to begin in Uttar Pradesh in mid-October.
