India covid: Fresh cases continue to fall

With continuous fall in fresh covid cases in the country rise in total cases is still considerable. On Friday, the 207th day since India implemented a nationwide lockdown, India has had recorded 73,70,468 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 1,12,161 deaths. India’s COVID-19 recovery rate stands at 87.6%.
So far, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka have reported the highest number of cases.

Maharashtra has had 15,64,615 cases, Andhra Pradesh has had 7,71,503 cases, Karnataka has had 7,43,848 cases, Tamil Nadu 6,74,802 cases and Uttar Pradesh 4,47,383 cases.

Infections are again rising rapidly in states like Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal. Yet, India’s recovery rate continues to rise and now stands at 87.6%. ‘Unlock 5.0’ is underway. Globally, there have been over 3.86 crore confirmed cases of COVID-19. More than 10.93 lakh people have died so far.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has said that 9,22,54,927 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the country till yesterday (October 15). Of these, 10,28,622 were tested yesterday.

As many as 63,371 new COVID-19 cases and 895 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

Reported active COVID-19 cases in India now stand at 8,04,528. As many as 64,53,779 COVID-19 patients have been cured and discharged so far.

The COVID-19 tally of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, one of the places in India that reported least cases, has risen to 4,062 after 16 more people tested positive for the infection, a health official said.
