While dry run of covid vaccination began in the country Union health minister Harsh Vardhan on Saturday urged the public not to pay heed to anti-vaccine rumours and said the anti-Covid-19 shots will be free across the country.
New agency ANI quoted the union minister in a tweet saying, “vaccine will be free not just in Delhi but entire country.” It wasn’t clear whether free for frontline workers to be vaccinated in the first phase or the entire population.
“I appeal to people not to pay heed to rumours. Ensuring safety & efficacy of vaccine is our priority. Different kinds of rumours were spread during polio immunisation but people took the vaccine & India is now polio-free,” Vardhan said after reviewing the dry vaccination run at the Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) hospital in the national capital.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh began the dry run for the covid vaccination on Saturday.The first city to go for the dry run was Lucknow where six vaccination centres were made at KGMU, Lohia institute, PGI, community health centres in Mal and Malihabad and a private hospital in Gomti Nagar.
Each vaccination centre had 25 volunteers who had to reach vaccination centres and get the vaccine shot. The entire process was followed just as the actual vaccination is done except for the fact that actual vaccine is yet to arrive.
The dry run has vaccines vans coming from cold chain storage point to vaccination sites. At the vaccination sites the vaccination is done in steps starting with identification/cross matching of the beneficiary.
A dry run is done to check if any anomalies so that when actual vaccination starts it goes without any trouble. The data for the entire state to conduct dry run of the vaccination January 5.
