On Sunday a video went viral that showed deputy collector Priya Verma pushing some of the protestors and then she also slapped one of the protestors.
This incident went viral. The incident took place in Byawara town of the Rajgarh district where BJP workers had taken out a rally in support of the citizenship amendment law. During the rally workers and policemen entered in to scuffle. The video is about the same incident. The Madhya Pradesh high court has sought a reply from the state government and the district administration.
Justice SC Sharma and Justice S Shukla of the Indore bench of the high court listening to the PIl filed by advocate Harshwardhan Sharma of Rajgarh issued orders to district magistrate of Rajgarh Nidhi Nivedita and other government officials to reply in four weeks.
When the rally was taken out the administration had imposed section 144 and had restricted all events such as this rally. The petitioners’ advocate Punyamitra Bhargava told reporters that the petition has mentioned that both the officials misused their legal powers and did violence with the BJP workers though they had national flag in hands and were staging protest.

He said that appeal has been made in the petition that executive powers with these two officers should be taken back and the ‘slap incident’ be probed by a magistrate and also a judicial inquiry be set up in this case.
The petition also said that the section 144 should be removed from the entire state as it had hindered the fundamental rights of the citizens.
