Well know water warriors of bundelkhand, the Jal Sahelis has started a unique initiative in Simravari village in Babina block of Jhansi district.
They worked for 6 days with all dedication to revive the Ghurari river and brought the river back to life by tying a sack. Jal Saheli has not only done the work of reviving a river, but they also given an important message to the society.
Over the years, the river had become almost dead due to the broken check dam, but Jal Sahelis took up this big task with their own hard group work and understanding. Without any government or non-government help, they tied the broken check dam with the help of sack filled with sand.
Now, the water flowing in the river and it helps local people to bath, feed animals and recharge nearby wells. This wonderful initiative shows , where there is a will, there is a way.
With the inspiration of Sanjay Singh, Chief of Parmarth(An NGO working for water conservation), the women started this work without wasting any time.
It is noteworthy that there are still three months of summer left and the water they have stored will provide them water till the next rainy season.
