First coronavirus death in Lucknow

Lucknow: The 64-year-old coronavirus patient, a resident of Nayagaon in Najirabad, died on Wednesday afternoon at the King George’s Medical University. he was admitted here since April 11.

This is first coronavirus related death in Lucknow and ninth death in the state that has reported over 700 cases till now.

The man, had reached KGMU casualty with breathlessness and was diabetic too. He died during treatment, said Dr Sudhir Singh, media cell in charge at the KGMU.

Brother of the deceased had also tested positive a day before while his family members have been kept in medical quarantine facility. The 100-mts area around the house of the deceased was sealed a day before and health department had started contact tracing.

During the day Lucknow reported 30 fresh cases that took the total number of cases in the state capital to 74. The fresh cases are from Najirabad and Sadar areas and are contacts of people who tested coronavirus positive earlier. According to the office of the chief medical officer of Lucknow contact tracing is being done in these areas.

Health teams are visiting the areas and taking details from each house in the areas. All suspected are taken quarantine facilities.
