New Delhi. Amazon India has expanded its collaboration with key Government of India institutions in a move aimed at strengthening livelihoods, entrepreneurship and the country’s logistics ecosystem. Through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of MSME (MoMSME), DPIIT, and Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya (GSV), the company is aligning its long-term growth in India with national development priorities.
In an exclusive conversation with News Publication, Chetan Krishnaswamy, Vice President Public Policy, Amazon India, outlined how these partnerships are designed to create a holistic and inclusive impact across different segments of the economy.
Integrated Vision for Inclusive Growth
Explaining the broader vision behind collaborating with three government institutions simultaneously, Krishnaswamy said the approach reflects Amazon’s commitment to India’s long-term development.
“Each institution plays a critical role in shaping a different part of the economic ecosystem—MSMEs, startups and logistics. By working together, we are creating integrated impact across livelihoods, entrepreneurship and infrastructure, ensuring digital inclusion and market access reach businesses at every stage of growth,” he said.

Bringing Artisans into the Digital Economy
Under the PM Vishwakarma Scheme, Amazon’s partnership with MoMSME focuses on empowering traditional artisans such as carpenters, potters, goldsmiths, blacksmiths and sculptors through the Karigar program.
Krishnaswamy noted that the initiative goes far beyond online selling. “Artisans are supported with training in cataloging, branding, logistics and customer engagement. This helps bridge generational craftsmanship with modern retail, enabling artisans to diversify incomes and build sustainable digital livelihoods.”
Shaping the Future of Logistics
Amazon’s collaboration with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, India’s only university dedicated to transportation and logistics, is aimed at strengthening sectoral research and talent development.
“Through joint research on multimodal transport design, freight corridor efficiency and sustainability-led solutions, we hope to contribute to evidence-based policymaking and infrastructure design. The dedicated research chair and upcoming warehousing report will support India’s supply chain resilience,” Krishnaswamy explained.
Empowering Women Entrepreneurs and Startups
The expanded partnership with DPIIT will scale Amazon’s Saheli Accelerate program to support 50 women-led businesses, while also strengthening launch support for direct-to-consumer startups.
Highlighting the focus on non-metro regions, Krishnaswamy said, “Women entrepreneurs and early-stage startups often struggle with mentorship, digital readiness and market exposure. By prioritising Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, we are ensuring growth opportunities reach beyond metros.”
Aligned with India’s Economic Priorities
According to Krishnaswamy, these collaborations directly reflect India’s economic agenda—strengthening MSMEs, driving innovation-led entrepreneurship, and modernising logistics infrastructure.
“Preserving cultural craftsmanship, enabling women-led businesses and building efficient logistics networks together contribute to a more inclusive, future-ready economy aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat,” he said.
Amazon’s Long-Term Commitment to India
Concluding the interaction, Krishnaswamy подчеркed Amazon India’s long-term commitment to the country.
“These partnerships demonstrate our intent to move beyond transactional engagement. By investing in capability-building, mentoring entrepreneurs and supporting artisans, we aim to help create a robust digital ecosystem that benefits millions of consumers and sellers across India,” he said.
With these initiatives, Amazon India continues to position itself as a key partner in India’s growth journey—supporting grassroots livelihoods, nurturing innovation and strengthening the backbone of commerce.
