End of speculation for Sarojininagar seat

 Jubilee News Desk

With former ED joint director Rajeshwar Singh getting a BJP ticket from the Sarojininagar assembly constituency, speculations came to an end regarding who among two– BJP minister Swati Singh or her husband Dayashankar — will get a ticket.

Soon after ticket was announced Swati, a minister in the state BJP government said replied to queries regarding she being denied a ticket said, “I am part of BJP and will continue to remain so throughout my life. No worker should question the decision taken by the party leadership. The party must have done it for good.”

Swati’s name came to fore when she took stand against the BSP leaders making comment upon her family. The comments came after her husband Dayashankar had made objectionable remarks upon BSP leader.Swati’s stand was noticed more and to a level that she was made in charge of the women cell in the BJP and gradually given ticket for Sarijininagar assembly seat. This seat was significant as BJP could only dream of winning it for past several elections.

But Swati did it. And she got a minister’s seat too in the government. So what started with a controversy reached a height in power corridor. But what led to a denial of ticket for a second consecutive time is still under wraps.

What goes around is the alleged controversies that surrounded Swati as a minister. Inauguration of a beer shop, voice call to a circle officer for favour of a builder, and then alleged confrontation between the minister and her spouse over ticket for Sarojininagar was the last.

Dayashankar Singh who is BJP UP vice-president, after being denied ticket said, “BJP’s candidate list is great, party has put a lot of thought behind it. This time we’ll win 9/9 seats. I welcome the decision of giving Sarojini Nagar ticket to Rajeshwar Singh, former ED Jt-Dir.”
