During COVID-19 work some doctors want to study

While majority medical staff concentrated to their work in hospitals during the lockdown some of them in Uttar Pradesh left for studies at AIIMS, Rishikesh.

The matter came to light when the association of government doctors raised the matter with the director general medical health.

The AIIMS, Rishikesh had sent letter to UP health department giving opportunity to 24 doctors for PG courses. And the health department selected two-dozen names without any circular or giving an opportunity to apply to the doctors. A list of 24 doctors was made and some of them also got relieved for studies while other were busy in treatment of COVID-19 patients.

This despite the director general had issued order to relieve the doctors only when the COVID-19 is over. Despite such an order three doctors from CHC in Badayun got themselves relieved on April 14. Another got relieved from Shamli district.

Government doctors have also alleged discrimination in selection of candidates for AIIMS and wrote letter to the director general medical heath demanding action.

AIIMS invited application for PG courses from UP there was no circular among doctors in the state. The list has been made with choice of individuals, said Dr Sachin Vaish, president PMSA association of government doctors.

He said that such candidates did not even quality in the NEET. We request that the list that has been made with all anomalies should be cancelled and a fresh list be made Dr Vaish says.

The doctors said that the association has got letters from many district branches stating they never got to know about any such selection.
